For the four fearless leaders out there here is an update on the grossness of my right heel.
If you read the previous posts, you know that I got what I've been calling a blister on my right heel. The climbing shoes I was wearing at the time fit, and where throughly broken in and by all accounts felt good. I won't restate what happened up until this point, but this is where its at.
After seeing no sign of healing in two weeks and at the urging of the nurses who I work with I went to the Portland Clinic. The doctor checked it out and said that there didn't seem to be any sign of infection. She told me to soak it gave me a perscription. I had instructions to start the antibiotics if I looked like it wasn't getting better.
That was on a Friday, by Tuesday I was back in the urgent care with instructions to not leave there without having all the dead skin removed. Another doctor did just that and I went home and started killing all the biotics in my body.
A week later, I'm in Westover Heights Clinic in Northwest Portland, doing my best to breath deep suck up the fact that I'm being stabbed with a Q-tip so I can get a culture to see what the hell is eating my heel. Twenty minutes after that, I'm back on my bike and rolling back to my house wonder what the hell is wrong with me and strict rules to not cover it.
Two days later I have messages from the Clinic and Amy (who got a call from the clinic looking for me) telling me to call them back right away. I call back, heart racing and wondering whats so wrong that they would call my girlfriend and emergency contact. They told me that the I have an infection known as sudimonus at level 4+. I didn't know what that meant, but she assured me that it was very serious. Ten minutes later I'm skipping my fair on the street car and heading to Legacy Good Samaritan ER.
Now a week later and a trip to the foot doctor I still don't really have a clue about what's going on with my foot. I'm being told that I don't need a foot doctor, but a surgeon. I don't know what the fuck is going on, or how long I'll be out. I still can't put on a pair of shoes, let alone a pair of climbing shoes. I'm frustrated because I'm sitting on my ass. Amy is doing a great job dealing with me in this state. But at least it looks like the infection is going away. I'm thinking about taking two of these vicatians and playing some FIFA World Cup 06. I'm out. Till next time.

Um, yer spellin' is bad. Your ankle seems worse.
It seems stupid and worthless to say, but I've got nothing else--Get better soon and good luck with the surgery.
BobG, pseudomonas seems to be a serious bacteria infection. If they tell you to take antibiotics or something, take the entire course, don't stop when you feel better. It looks like antibiotic resistant strains are developing. This is what happens when your body gets weak from not having to fight off the dirty urban environment in Cleveland anymore. -- Ian
